New mirror style for album browser
Under 'Options\GUI\Album Browser' you can activate the new 'Mirror' style. It looks best in combination with the new color scheme 'Mirror'.
Multi-selection of albums and songs
Multiple songs and albums can now be selected with a combination of the CTRL and SHIFT keys and the mouse.
Additionally, in the album browser and the thumbnail view of the album list, multiple albums can be selected by single clicks on the album label
New playlist creation dialog
With the playlist creation dialog, it's possible to create a quick selection of songs from the current set of albums in the album browser.
After the playlist has been created, it can be played immediately or sent to some external application like some audio player.
The created playlist can also be edited furthe like any other playlist.
New overlay icons for popular, forgotten, new, unrated or great albums
The new icons give a quick indication of the following states:
Popular
:
Albums played a lot recently
Forgotten
:
Albums not played for some months
Great
:
Albums with 4 or 5 star ratings
Unrated
:
Albums not rated yet
New
:
Albums added in the last 3 months
New Filters: popular and forgotten albums
Similar to the overlay icons, there are 2 new filters:
The
Popular
filter, only displaying albums which have been listened to a lot recently
and the
Forgotten
filter which displays albums which haven't been listened to for a few months.
As always, these filters can be combined with almost any other filter.
For example, the list of your best albums (5 star rating) you haven't listened to for months is only 2 clicks away by combining the
Popular
and
Best
filter.
Improved History, remembering every step now
The new history stores every step of your album browser navigation.
You can change a filter, search or scroll to a new artist, the history will allow to backtrace each of your steps.
Search with or without song titles
You can now decide whether you want to search for song titles or not.
With a simple click, the song search is activated or deactivated.
Save current image to all audio files
If you use software (like iTunes) or hardware (some audio players) which display album art taken from the tags of audio files
you can now store the album art from MP3Toys in all audio tracks of the same album.
Volume Crossfading when changing tracks
If you prefer a continous audio flow from one track to the next in any case, you can activate the
crossfading
feature.
It's possible to specify the crossover duration (the total time one track is faded out and the next track is faded in)
independently for manual and automatic track changes.
External player support
For those users who want to use 3rd party audio software (e.g. Winamp) for playback,
MP3Toys can generate a playlist on the fly and send it to the external player as soon as you click on an artist, playlist, album or song in MP3Toys.
External player support has to be activated explicitly by the user.
Only applications using the popular 'm3u' playlist format are supported.
It's possible to select the item (artist, playlist, album or song) for which MP3Toys should use the external player instead of it's internal playback.
Auto-Update
The new auto-update feature allows a much easier update process for new versions.
You can either check for new updates manually by using the 'Updates...' tray menu item or you can MP3Toys notify you automatically.
You will be able to see what's new before downloading and installing a new version and it's also possible to try out beta versions.
Sleep Timer
With the new sleep timer, MP3Toys can send your computer to sleep after a selected period of time.
You can choose from a number of actions. Some of the actions might not be available on all systems since they depend on certain hardware.
Note also that other programs like MS-Outlook might prevent the computer from shutting down automatically.
These programs have to be closed before the sleep function can be used successfully.
Customizable File Scanner
By default, if MP3Toys scans a folder which has songs from different albums but there are not more than 3 songs of the same album,
MP3Toys creates one bigger album called 'Various Songs' instead of many very small albums.
If you prefer more albums even if they only contain 1, 2 or 3 files you can now change the scanner settings.
After you have changed the settings, you need to rescan your collection with the new settings.
Improved album art search including google
The album art search has been updated to include the latest specifications of the amazon and google websites.
Instant track list
If you prefer an instant song list for the albums in the album browser, it's now possible to set the song rollover delay to 0.
Suspend Internet
If you use a dial-up connection for internet access you might find the new 'Suspend Internet' option useful.
It suspends all internet activity of MP3Toys (like album art search, lyrics search, last.fm song submission,...) and prevents any dial up box from popping up. The option can be activated from the general context menu which opens when you right click on an empty area anywhere in MP3Toys.
Besides these features, v2.5 also adds
support for FLAC files
and
fixes a problem related to network paths ('\\MyNetwork\Music').
